Accomplishments

State’s Attorney Frank Weathersbee has never been complacent with merely reacting to crimes that happen in Anne Arundel County by prosecuting criminals. He feels strongly that partnerships with other law enforcement agencies are crucial to keeping our streets safe. Further, Frank Weathersbee has created and initiated numerous programs that allow for a proactive approach to those issues that effect our communities. He, along with several members of his staff, go out into our communities and provide presentations free of charge to groups, schools and other organizations.

Frank honors long-time public servant, Lynn Freshour, with the 2010 Warren B. Duckett, Jr. Memorial Commitment to Justice Award at the annual Victims Rights’ Week Luncheon in April.

Frank announces that his office’s Bad Check Collection Unit has reached the $2 million mark for the collection of funds from bad check writers to business owners in Anne Arundel County.

These programs include :

Gang Related Investigations and Prosecutions (GRIP)

  • instructs parents, teachers and school administrators as to how to identify gang activity, gang prevention and informs as to ways to speak with children about gangs.

Internet Crimes Against Children Program (ICAC)

  • Helps parents and teachers recognize and understand the hidden dangers that exist on the Internet and mobile phones.

Communities Against Senior Exploitation (CASE)

  • Teaches seniors how to prevent themselves from being victims of fraud, scams and identity theft.

Also, Mr. Weathersbee’s office has long maintained several programs for which they have been honored and which serve as model programs for other State’s Attorney’s Offices including :
